Jupiter, the boring side

With the usual setup, from the usual location: Jupiter, the boring side. ASI 224MC, TSO ADC, N250/1200, HEQ5 guided by the soapbox project from the balcony observatory. Bad observing conditions: low transparency, bad seeing and passing clouds.

Jupiter and its Europa

The setup was the usual, ASI 224MC, TSO ADC, N250/1200, HEQ5, and the seeing had its good moments, but there were some clouds or fog.

Jupiter 2019-07-22

Jupiter and Io, 2019-07-22There’s been some nasty nebulosity these days, either thin clouds or outright fog, impossible to tell from within the city. Though the seeing had its good moments, transparency was awful. I’ve been wondering these days about not owning a TV. Well, the transit of Io observed here sure lacks the action of a spacefight but sure has something kubricky about it. ASI 224MC, TSO ADC, N250/1200, HEQ5

The boring side: the best seeing I’ve seen for a very long time. And it was the boring side. ASI 224MC, TSO ADC, N250/1200, HEQ5

Jupiter and Ganymede 2018-07-17

Jupiter, Ganymede

The observing conditions were… weel, usual, ie bad. The usual setup was used to observe Jupiter and the first half of Ganymede’s transit. ASI 224MC, TSO ADC, N250/1200, HEQ5

The gif below is big, be careful if on a metered connection.

Jupiter, Io 2019-07-15

Jupiter and Io. I just realized why I don’t have a TV: I can see live interplanetary feeds from my balcony. And while there is less action and it’s considerably slower, Galileo Galilei did stuff like this – just a tad more low tech. ASI 224MC, TSO ADC, N250/1200, HEQ5 guided by the soapbox project.

Saturn, bad seeing

Let me post a bad picture of mine, Saturn as it looks through bad seeing and some thin clouds. In a way, this is the normal for me. Datetime: 2019-07-14-21-58Z, long video. ASI 224MC, TSO ADC, N250/1200, HEQ5

Jól kalibrált monitoron mindegyik számnál elkülönülő árnyalat látszik. Ha mégsem látszanak, akkor a megjelenített képek színhiányosan rajzolódnak ki. A monitort valószínűleg kalibrálni kell.

You should see distinct shades for each number. If those shades are not clearly visible, the displayed pictures will lack accuracy. Your display most likely needs to be calibrated (brightness, gamma, contrast etc.).
