This time, a rather aggressive processing, maybe for the better, who knows.

This optical tube is a marvel, at least with the Calcium K filter. Although there are some stacking-aligning issues left on the picture above, it is still the best I have ever made.

2021-07-22, K-line Sun, first light

This is the first light of the APO tube I just bought, and put into the lunchbreak-heliobservatory: ASI 178MM (cooled), Baader K-Line Filter 1.25″ (double stacked), TS-Optics 76/342 TS76EDPH, mountpusher, EQ3-mod

I really like the design of the tube, how short it is, though its focal length needs either an expansion tube or the flattener, which I figured wouldn’t be a good fit for the Sun.

The tiny additions I put onto the tube: the focuser and the cardboard adapter for the ND3.8 filter I already have for the MC102/1300.

It was a really nice surprise to see the Sun in much more detail, than through the Canon EF 200mm f2.8L II USM

ASI 178MM, a 0.5x reducer, 1.25″, B600, Lunt LS60T Ha, mountpusher, EQ3-mod.  The sky was visibly full of a lot of Saharan dust, having a distinct yellow hue, dust which got deposited onto the windows with the rain and thunderstorm later that day.

The color version is obviously false color, intensity coded – red for fainter details, yellow for brighter ones.  Below I posted a selfi, and see also the werk photos from the earlier post.

The Sun kept playing hide and seek, and a rain interrupted the session, but I managed, in the lunch break, to get a fair look at the Sun.

You should see distinct shades for each number. If those shades are not clearly visible, the displayed pictures will lack accuracy. Your display most likely needs to be calibrated (brightness, gamma, contrast etc.).
