The Sun in K 2021-07-24

This optical tube is a marvel, at least with the Calcium K filter. Although there are some stacking-aligning issues left on the picture above, it is still the best I have ever made.

Instruments: ASI 178MM (cooled), Baader K-Line Filter 1.25″ (double stacked), TS-Optics 76/342 TS76EDPH, mountpusher, EQ3-mod

2021-07-22, K-line Sun, first light

This is the first light of the APO tube I just bought, and put into the lunchbreak-heliobservatory: ASI 178MM (cooled), Baader K-Line Filter 1.25″ (double stacked), TS-Optics 76/342 TS76EDPH, mountpusher, EQ3-mod

I really like the design of the tube, how short it is, though its focal length needs either an expansion tube or the flattener, which I figured wouldn’t be a good fit for the Sun.

The tiny additions I put onto the tube: the focuser and the cardboard adapter for the ND3.8 filter I already have for the MC102/1300.

It was a really nice surprise to see the Sun in much more detail, than through the Canon EF 200mm f2.8L II USM

The Sun – 2021-07-01

The Sun kept playing hide and seek, and a rain interrupted the session, but I managed, in the lunch break, to get a fair look at the Sun. ASI 178MM (cooled), B600, Lunt LS60T Ha, mountpusher, EQ3-mod, Kolozsvár

The Sun in CaK

I put together a rather modest setup: the Canon EF 200mm f/2.8 L II USM telephoto lens with an ASI 120 MM camera, and the CaK filter that has given me so much joy while observing Venus, all mounted on the EQ3. The goal wasn’t to image something never seen before, but just to blow the dust off my astronomy gear. I am lazy so I don’t like moving the dovetails around, and I  had a piece of hard wood — a dovetail it became.

Sun – 2019-12-22

After a longer overcast period, I managed to image the Sun in Hydrogen alpha, using my solar setup: HEQ5, Lunt LS60T Hα, B600, ASI 120MM

Sol Invictus: it was here before me, it’ll be here after me, till it won’t

Some Solar System

Sunspot 2661

A few clear hours, in conjunction with my free time, allowed me to take some photos: the Sun, the Moon, Jupiter and Saturn. I still could not find Enceladus. The setup: N150/750 and MC 102/1300 on the HEQ5, Scopium and CCD Labs Q-Guide webcam.

The Sun 2015-08-01, 02

2015-08-02 through a Calcium K line filter (mosaic, 150/750)I’ve seen some really nice prominences and, well, a dolphin :) I mean I was stunned to see a feature just disappear in front of my eyes while chatting (8 hours long recording sessions have their boring parts).

Instruments:
Optics: Lunt LS35T for hydrogen alpha, N 150/750 for Calcium K line
Camera: ATIK 314E 16 monochrome camera
Software: Artemis, AS!2, Registax 6, GIMP

Nap, Vénusz

Az alábbi képek a napokban készültek. Lunt LS35T naptávcsővel, 150/750-es tükrössel vagy 102/1300-as MC-vel.

You should see distinct shades for each number. If those shades are not clearly visible, the displayed pictures will lack accuracy. Your display most likely needs to be calibrated (brightness, gamma, contrast etc.).
